Tech We Trust is an educational project that looks at digital skills, data skills, and the ethics of using technology to make decisions.
Tech We Trust will show primary and lower secondary school pupils how personal data is used to make decisions that affect our everyday lives. Whether that’s what song a music app recommends to them, or whether they’re eligible for free school transport.
These decision-making algorithms make important decisions – but they can also go wrong.
You don’t need to be a digital expert to teach these topics. The Tech We Trust interactive lesson will guide you and your class through.
Teachers can help prepare the next generation of digital leaders to understand the dangers of biased algorithms. To fight that inequality, learners need to know how to spot them, and how to tackle them.
The interactive lesson explores how personal data is used to make decisions. You’ll see how computer programmers can (often accidentally) implement their own bias into the algorithms and apps they create.
Pupils will make arguments for and against using algorithms and reflect on where algorithms can be unfair or disadvantage some people.
